Cubilux USB to SPDIF Transmitter and Receiver UCSTR-B3 雑感です.
まず,結論から書くと,
なぜかなかなか入荷されませんが,他に同様の製品ありませんので,見つけたら即捕獲!
しておくのが良いのではないかと思います.
これはなに?
USB と SPDIF を変換するシンプルなアダプターです.本製品以外にも似たようなことができるものはもちろんあるのですが,
- 入出力両方に対応
- 192KHz/24bit 対応(ステレオのみ.5.1ch や 7.1 ch には対応しない)
- 安価
の条件を全て満たすものとしては本 blog 執筆時点だと他にないと思います.
メーカーは CUBLUX ですが,同社の製品としては,以前,本 blog で取り上げた USB to SPDIF アダプターの
がありますし,逆向きの SPDIF to USB アダプターである
もあるので,組み合わせることで本製品と同様のことができそうに見えるのですが,SPDIF から USB への変換は 48KHz/16bit までと微妙に違います.また,上位のオーディオインターフェースだと同様の機能を持つものはそれなりにありますが,当然,それなりのお値段しますので,本製品と比べるようなものではないと思います.
開封の儀
購入はいつものとおり Amazon から,お値段は5000円強でした.パッケージは以下の通り簡素な紙箱でした.
内容物は以下の通り,本体,説明書,USB-A to USB-C のケーブル,USB-A to USB-C 変換アダプターで,残念ながら光デジタルケーブルの付属はありませんが,お値段がお値段なのでこれは仕方のないところでしょう.なお,SPDIF の接続は光ケーブルのみ対応で,同軸タイプには対応していません.
本体は,以下の通り,非常にコンパクト,かつ真っ黒な金属筐体で,高級感とまでは言いませんが,それなりのオーディオ機器の隣にあっても違和感がないと思います.
使用雑感
まず,いまのところ,
全ての周波数・深度で試したわけではありませんが,少なくとも,Windows, MacOS, Linux で使う限りは今のところ問題なく使用可能
でした.もちろん「受信 (TX)」「送信 (RX)」両方で試しています.ただし Amazon には使えなかったというコメントもそれなりにあるので,どのような機器と組み合わせているのかにもよるのかもしれません.

また,以前レビューした USB to SPDIF Optical Audio Converter
は Realtek のチップが使われているようですが,本製品は SaviAudio 製と,中身はかなり違っているようです.
ただし,本製品,最初に書いた通り,なぜか,
なかなか入荷がない!
という問題があります.実は本製品があって,Amazon で販売されていることに気が付いたのは1年くらい前だったのですが,購入するか迷っていたらすぐに在庫切れになってしまいました.その後,販売が再開されていないか定期的に見に行っていましたが,結局手に入ったのは今年の4月の後半で,本 blog 執筆時点だとまた在庫切れとなっています.
